Abstract

This paper explores the simulacrum aspect of contemporary journalism, focusing on the Folha de S. Paulo. The research aims to explore the possible relationship between the creation of ‘simulacra news’ and the question of social domination. The research is grounded on the observation of ‘news’ of Brazilian president Dilma Roussef in the resistence mouvements to the militar dictatorship. The central argument points that the newspaper’s actions can only be fully understood in the context of social domination in Brazil, particularly the the resilience of some elements of dictatorship.
