New technologies and socio-cultural practices: appropriation of the cyberspace and mobility

Abstract

This paper seeks to develop what is considered to be some key issues to think our relationship with the cyberspace and the kinds of problems which can be tackled from certain “infocentrical” positions on the network society and new technologies of information and communication. Recaptures some fundamental considerations by Raymond Williams on the process of “domestication” of the television and tries to think about how new forms of social ownership can be created from new technologies and mobility conditions.
