Abstract

From the transformations of the documentary tradition in contact with the avant-garde, arises a new type of cinema, the film-essay, which establishes the possibility of an epistemology focused on the ruins of reality. The film-essay expands across multiple modalities that recycle the games of the avant-garde to transform them into rhetorical devices that promulgate the possibility of an audio-visual thinking able to recover the forms and the intentions of the literary essay.
