The journalism as representation of representation

Abstract

The journalism is the representation of representation. It is present in the first thesis on journalism from 1690 by Tobias Peucer. To go deep inside this issue the author saw in the history of art the first time that an artist represents himself – Velázquez in Las meninas – the pure representation versus the representation made by journalism. The ethical basis of this discussion appears from the spirit of Velázquez´s time, the same as Peucer, Spinoza and Descartes, when a solid concept, such as ethics, helps to found the modernity. And the relativization of ethics shapes the journalism.
