Abstract

“Public communication” in Brazil has always reflected the political interests of its rulers. Within this context, the public communication agents contend between the ethic of inclusion - typical of the State, and the aesthetic of partisan discourse. The actions of public relations actions converge to the construction of identities associated to messianism and an overoptimistic patriotic attitude towards the country, as it is currently evidenced in the federal scope. The article discusses the situation of the communication professionals in this area and proposes ways of reverting this scenario.
