Parliamentary elections: ladies and gentlemen, the show has begun
Keywords:
Spectacle, political marketing, election campaign, mediaAbstract
This paper aims to reflect on the spectacularization over the electoral campaigns, and its effects over democracy, from the hypothesis that their publicity are solidified by high audio-visual content and aided by the media spectacle aesthetics. This is an essay exemplified by the campaigns of famous who applied to the Brazilian parliament in 2010. Not judging the quality of the campaigns, nor their political effectiveness, we indicate that when focusing on the grammar of entertainment in politics we have the trivialization of election debates, that leads to a disenchantment with the politics.Downloads
