This text was presented on the 5th International Congress of Communication and Culture - CoMcult, at Faculdade Cásper Líbero, on November 11-13th, 2015. By begging the question “What is the cost of the virtual?”, the event was organized as a homage to the memory and the work of Dietmar Kamper (1936-2001). The following paper thus highlights the salvationist promises found in theories about the virtual as a means to discuss the current hypnogenic state of the human consciousness, represented in our imaginary as the tottering and unfocused figures of the zombies and the vampires.Downloads
