Abstract

We analyzed how disasters involving the environment are built from the point of view of discourses of testimonial, expert and authorized sources in 33 Brazilian weekly magazines. Of the 221 quoted sources, 43.89 % testimonies, 35.29 % experts and 20.81 % authorized. Based on the study of the effects of each citation (decision, opinion, knowledge and description), we concluded that the authorized sources do not assume their responsibilities, the expert sources have a more critical role and the testimonial ones are restricted to describe their experience.
