Knowledge, affection and understanding: epistemology of communication and dialogy

Abstract

The author discusses the theme of a new “interpretive position for the field of communication” (Sodré). A critique of the “dictatorship of the concept” is built from the defense of affection, from the perspective of an epistemology of dialogue and understanding. On the theme of understanding the discussion takes place on the subject in the GT of “Epistemologia da Comunicação” in Compós in recent years. It thrives on the humanization of relations between interlocutors through the affection and understanding as a basis for a cognitive and ethical posture able to understand, rather than to exclude and condemn.
