Abstract

In this paper, we aim to connect Peircean semiotics to reception studies. Initially, we explore the notion of interpretation in Peirce, and then we highlight the importance of collateral information in such activity. As a result, we underline the limits of the sign and the relevance of the receptor activity in the semiosis. Finally, we offer a methodological suggestion to connect, in the last phase of a semiotic analysis, the exploration of the communicative potential of the sign and quantitative or qualitative research.
