Concepts of community, local and region: interconnections and differences

Abstract

This paper deals about the concepts of community, local and region. It starts from some classical definitions and their re-elaborations, aiming to explaining the basic notions of these phenomena, and indicates their differences and interconnections. More specifically, discusses the characteristics of local and region today. The paper is based on bibliographical research and point out that these concepts are intrinsically linked, particularly between local and region, because as each one relates itself to other spatial dimensions and are made of common factors, which, at the same time, have their differences.
