Quality standard and criterium to news production: normative explanations and news effects

Abstract

news, quality, publicThe (im)possibility to find an acceptable explanation for the current standards of news production without attempting for what the public makes with them. The text shows the works´ insufficiences on productive routines, source news reports and journalist´s background and capability to give the expected answers, presenting as alternative a worry in theorizing the public, and not only the news production. The text is divided into two parts. The first one discusses about the reasons which interfere in news production. The second one refers to the need of a discussion about the consumption standards as predictors of news production standards.
