The cultural space of “Séries Brasileiras” in television flow: consumption and production in the definition of a sub-genre

Abstract

Our aim is to deal with televisual production focusing in a central aspect in the construction of its narratives, the television genre. More specifically, we will discuss what we consider the televisual sub-genre “Séries Brasileiras”, since the 70’s until these days, in order to evaluate if this sub-genre, as it occupies a certain space of television flow, provides opportunities to problematize contemporary issues of the time.
