Abstract

This paper aims to study the “rebirth” of photojournalism through photo agencies, taking as a case study the European agency NOOR, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with photographers throughout the world. The idea is to reverse the cliches of the death of photojournalism and the crisis of image and offer solutions when some apocalyptics (paraphrasing the semiotician Umberto Eco) proclaim the end of the genre and propose solutions that remove the essence of photojournalism, which is to be information and to tell a story.
