The III Festival de Música Popular of TV Record: a dialectical approach of the documentary Uma noite em 67

Abstract

Uma noite em 67 allows a reflection on the III Festival de Música Popular of TV Record as a media product. The acknowledgment of the historical dimension of the development process of the Culture Industry is the central aspect of the analysis on this article. The main features of the festival are seen as a result of the dispute between the station’s directors perspective, the aesthetic and political conceptions of the musicians and the public’s reaction regarding the songs. It is discussed that the dialectical method is capable of managing the complex and contraditory dimension of the social reality.
