Abstract

This article studies the relation among social space, its translation in the media, and globalization. The transformation of social space into a virtual one is analyzed critically and conceptualized as a means of hollowing out or erasing social space completely. This is a direct consequence of the impenetrable ideological and technological logic that governs social life today, a logic that makes it increasingly more difficult to formulate both theoretical and practical alternatives capable of reorienting this dominant cultural dynamics.
