The censor’s writing: a study on interdiction in stage plays

Abstract

This article presents partial results of the studies developed in a research project about censored words. The research corpus is constituted by an archive that assembles censorship processes of stage plays in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, from 1925 to 1970. This work reveals aspects of the censor intervention on expressions related to a moral category.
