Abstract

The article intends to point out through the recent media productions symbolic figures and narrative forms articulated around the increasing exploitation of poverty and of the social exclusion. Based on the relevance that media assumes in the comtemporary society, into the legitimization and circulation of speeches – which command new ways of seeing and acting in the world –, the article presents a comparative analysis between the films Cidade de Deus and Uma onda no ar, both launched in 2002 and representative of a kind of remembrance of themes and forms discussed in recent audiovisual products.
