Pin-ups from yesterday and today: methodology for the comparison of images of performed femininities

Abstract

The images of women circulate socially and therefore they constitute the imaginary of what is understood as the proper performance of the genre. In this paper, we present the methodology that we developed based on the work of Peter Loizos (2002), aiming a comparative analysis between the images of pin-up girls from the twentieth century and of the current pin-upization of Brazilian celebrities, combined with the sociocultural processes involved in the conceiving of these representations. This will allow us to identify the performed femininities.
