Abstract

This article examines the use of new information and communication technologies as a means of promoting political debate, from proposals and arguments presented on the websites of the major parties’ presidential candidates in Brazil in 2010. The focus is on energy, responsible for global warming and part of the environmental crisis. The information published proves the hypothesis of insignificant use of the Internet communicative potential, not widening the political debate on important issues, because it is masked by the electoral marketing.
